‘Kannada Novel’ is one of many articles written in English by CKN. At the Fifth ALL INDIA WRITERS CONFERENCE held in Bhuvaneshwar in 1959, this article was the speech presented by CKN in the symposium, ‘The Novel In Modern India’. He has discussed in this article the beginnings of Kannada Novels’ important stages. Starting from the Novel, ‘Mudraamanjoosha’ by Kempu Narayana which is considered to be the very first novel until the other novels were written in 1953, CKN’s article gives the bird’s eye view of the progress made. More emphasis has been given to historical novels. This article has reviewed the novels translated into Kannada. This article has given the names of the Social Novels that have impacted regionally in India. The article affirms the memory of Kannada readers about Kannada Novels and affectionately introduces the progress made in Kannada Novels to the readers of other regional languages

This article was written by CKN for the felicitation book called ‘Siddhahasta’ to honour the famous Kannada writer Siddhavanahalli Krishnasharma. During 1946-47, CKN was the editor and publisher of the monthly magazine “Vani”. Every month, Krishnasharma used to write an article for this magazine under his pen name ‘Kannada KaNa’. The introduction to these articles is written by CKN.
