Dhwani Mattu Pratidhwani (Voice and Echo) – 1990

In June 1989, the Kannada Lekhakara Sangha (Kannada Writers' Association) commemorated its Silver Jubilee by organizing the Hoysala Sahityotsava (Hoysala Literary Conference) at the historic and sacred town of Shivagange. The event was conceived to mark the millennium of the illustrious Hoysala Empire and to revisit, celebrate, and introduce the rich literary heritage associated with that era.

As part of the celebrations, two major literary sessions were conducted, bringing together scholars, writers, and literary enthusiasts. Dhwani Mattu Pratidhwani is a compilation of the papers, presentations, and scholarly discussions delivered during these sessions.

The volume features critical studies of poets and literary works from the Hoysala period, along with essays examining modern novels, plays, and poems inspired by the grandeur and legacy of the Hoysala dynasty. These writings serve both as introductions and critical evaluations, offering fresh perspectives on the literary and cultural values of the period while encouraging their reassessment in a contemporary context.

The book also includes introductory essays on the Hoysala dynasty and the historical significance of Shivagange, as well as the keynote addresses delivered by the three distinguished presidents who presided over the conference. Carefully compiled and systematically edited by CKN, the volume stands as an important literary and historical resource. Published in 1990, Dhwani Mattu Pratidhwani continues to be a valuable reference for students, researchers, and scholars of Kannada literature and cultural history.
