Among the books reviewed by CKN for Mythic Society’s journal which is published once in three months (thry maasikake), “History of Manipura” is also one of them. CKN was attracted to the subject matter of that book. He wrote a Radio Play of the book in 1970 and it was broadcasted in Akaashavaani (All India Radio, Bangalore). He had the desire to use this subject matter elaborately.
Before it happened, the editor of the Daily News Paper ‘Sumyukhta Karnataka”, Surendra Dhani, insisted CKN to write a daily serial for the paper. For a writer, if the scope is limited, the writing would become limpy or slow paced. CKN made a contractual agreement to write the novel with the editor to print it the same way as written without making any changes. CKN wrote the novel to facilitate for the daily reading, keeping in mind the daily printing of each episode would fit into the columns in the news paper, with a plan to end the daily episode to arise curiosity for reading the next day’s episode. This is the novel ‘Kuranga Nayani’. This novel was printed daily from March 1, 1983 to March 31, 1983 for 27 days in the Daily News Paper ‘Sumyukhta Karnataka”. This has not been published yet in the book form.
